This card was created after I got a request to make a gift set for a flamingo fanatic! I was totally inspired by a card made by Chari Moss from the Lawn Fawn design team that showed two flamingos and an awesome distress ink sunset.

ree

For my card, I used the Lawn Fawn Flamingo Together stamp set, distress oxides, and Craftin’ Desert Divas Inside Scalloped Octagon Dies.

I cut the largest octagon out of white and black cardstock. I used the center of the white octagon and my foam blending tools to create the sunset out of distress oxides, in the colors fired brick, rusty hinge, and fossilized amber.

I stamped out each of the flamingos onto Canson watercolor paper and colored them in with Zig realbrush markers.

I used a Lawn Fawn stitched hillside die to create the ground out of some black cardstock and lined everything up to see where to place the palm trees. Like Chari, I stamped the trees in black ink, so they only looked like silhouettes in the background.

I reassembled the octagon, but used the outside frame in the black cardstock, popped up with some foam tape. I glued down the ground and the flamingos and then added the whole thing to an octagonal card base of the same size. In the end,

I thought all of the black cardstock was a bit too flat, so I used a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and colored in the ground to break it up a bit.

I stamped the sentiment “Wishing you a FLAMAZING day.” on the inside with Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs as well as some sentiments from A Bicycle Built for You.

I paired this card with a matching mini traveler’s notebook and bookmark, made with various different supplies from my stash.

Mama Elephant’s Flip Slider die was the first time I had ever seen or heard of a waterfall element, so as soon as I got it, I had to use it!

ree

I used Valentine papers from a Paper Studio 6x6 paper pad, along with some textured black floral paper from a Michael’s hot buy paper pad. My idea was to have a jar of candy hearts falling over and the slider die would simulate them spilling onto the table, incorporating the sentiments.

How You Bean? and the conversation heart add-on by Lawn Fawn were the sets used for this card. I first stamped out the group of hearts in the MISTI with antique linen distress ink, onto some white cardstock and colored them with alcohol markers. Then I put it back into the MISTI and stamped it again with Versamark ink, heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I heat embossed the jar onto some vellum; while the individual candy hearts were stamped onto different shades of red and pink cardstock.

I fussy cut all the images with Cutterbee detail scissors and went on to die cut the rest of the elements. For the main panel, I used a fancy scalloped rectangle die and layered that on top of an A2 sized rectangle with a layer of fun foam in between. I assembled the Flip Slider after a couple of tries; I didn’t take into account that using a one sided, direction oriented patterned paper had to be cut a certain way (LOL), good thing I had two papers with that pattern.

After that, I heat embossed some sentiments onto two of the slider panels and glued hearts to the rest. I cut a slit at the opening of the jar in order to have some hearts falling out and glued the jar on to top of the group of hearts toward the top of the card. Lastly, I glued the slider mechanism under that and attached the whole thing to a black cardbase.

My best friend went to Spain during college and ended up staying there, getting married, and finishing school; but when she told me her and her new husband would be coming back to the US I was super excited! Seeing as it would be his first time experiencing a Michigan winter, I wanted to put together a basket of some warm winter treats to combat the cold.

ree

So I decided on some tea, hot chocolate and a couple snacks to go with it. While at the grocery store, I found two mugs that immediately reminded me of Lawn Fawn’s Love You a Latte and the idea for this card popped into my head.

ree

I started by stamping out almost all the images from the stamp set onto some Canson watercolor paper, with Versafine onyx black ink. I then scribbled some Marvy Uchida Le Plume II brush markers onto an acrylic block and colored the images using a waterbrush. I cut them out with my Scan ‘N Cut and set them aside.

I found some coordinating papers in my stash from Doodlebug and DCWV that matched my coloring pretty well. Usually, I choose my papers first, but I think I was just really excited to get going on this card. Using the Lawn Fawn reveal wheel and reveal wheel square add on dies, I cut out the components of my card from some 110 lb. Recollections white cardstock. The sentiment was the final piece I needed before I could assemble the card. For that, I used the “Hello” die that came with my Cuttlebug die cut machine, and some aqua 65 lb. Recollections cardstock.

I ran my patterned papers through my die cutter with the square add on die and then cut them down to resemble a table and wallpaper. After gluing down the patterned paper to the white cardstock panel, I laid out the images and used the to-go cup with the sleeve to mark the place where the images would change. I cut apart the cup to trace the sleeve and then used an X-acto knife to cut out the shape from the front panel. I colored around the edge of the space with a tuxedo black Memento marker to keep the look cohesive to the rest of the images.

I partially assembled the reveal wheel and traced the shape onto the scalloped wheel several times in order to know where to stamp the images. I used the faces and a few other stamps from the set and stamped them onto the wheel. Once everything was stamped and in place, I glued down the images and sentiment to the front panel and assembled the reveal wheel.

I used another piece of my patterned paper and glued that onto a cardbase which left a ¼” border around the square panel. To finish off the card I added clear Wink of Stella to most of the cups, silver to the spoon, and glossy accents to the glaze on the donut image.

I think it’s the perfect card to go with the fun mugs I found.
