Hello!

Today I'm back with another Christmas card. I have been so in love with all the gingerbread cards all over Instagram recently, especially the gorgeous gingerbread house tags by Marine Simon. ❤

So for this card, I thought I'd take Lawn Fawn's Winter Village set and turn the little buildings into icing covered cookie houses. :)

To start, I took some images I had previously colored during the Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge, and stamped out a few more images from the set to go along with them.

ree

I stamped the images onto some Strathmore watercolor paper with Gina K. black amalgam ink. I then used Marvy Le Plume II markers to color them in. I scribbled them out onto an acrylic block, added a spritz of water, and used a watercolor brush to add the color.

List of colors used:

-Sepia

-Dark Brown

-Bubble Gum Pink

-Lt. Blue

-Pine Green

-Wine

I stamped out the Santa and reindeer stamp from Winter Skies and the street lamp from Winter Village in Lawn Fawn's walnut ink. I stamped and colored several little gingerbread guys from Sprinkled with Joy as well to add to the scene.

Once everything was colored, I cut them out using my Scan 'N Cut. Then to add the sparkle, I used a Quickie glue pen and added glitter to all the snowy areas on the buildings.

I also took a white Gelly Roll and added "icing" details to all the buildings. Then I added gel pen details to the gingerbread and the santa images to make them look more like iced cookies. And, of course, added more glitter on top of that!

After completing all the images, I started to assemble the double slider from Lawn Fawn. I used the dies to cut out the sliding panels and other main components from 110 lb. white cardstock. I followed Lawn Fawn's video for assembly instructions and kept opening and closing the slider until it worked relatively smoothly.

I cut some patterned, textured, and glitter cardstock as well for the front and sliding panels from:

-Doodlebug's Christmas Magic

-Doodlebug's Sugar Coated Lily White Cardstock

-DCWV Textured Neutrals

A Lawn Fawn stitched border created the sloping hill from the glitter cardstock and once I had that cut I began to assemble the rest of the scene. I glued everything down using Art Glitter glue liquid adhesive.

For the sentiment panel, I heat embossed "Wishing you and your family a magical Christmas" onto the light brown textured cardstock with Recollections white detail embossing powder. The majority of the sentiment came from the Winter Skies stamp set while "Christmas" was from Christmas Dreams.

I also stamped out the bow from the Christmas Dreams set and colored it to match, adding it to the bottom panel.

After completing the main interactive piece, I went to work on the base. I used 110 lb. white cardstock to create an A2 sized side folding card. I stamped the inside with "Happy Holidays" from Lawn Fawn's Winter Wavy Sayings and another little gingerbread guy with Gina K. black ink. Then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder because I'm too impatient to let it dry! 😂

I used another piece of patterned paper from Doodlebug's Magic Christmas as well as a pastel mint color from a Recollections paper pad for the layered panels. I cut them out using Waffleflower's A2 layers dies and attached them to the front of the card base.

In order to make this card as easy to open and close as possible, I tripled up some foam tape and added the final slider piece to the card.

And that's it! A sweet as can be little gingerbread town. I think it turned out so cute and the bright and pastel colors really make it fun.

Be sure to check out my YouTube channel for this card and several others. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I hope to see you again soon,

As Christmas is right around the corner, I'm transitioning from Fall cards to holiday cards. This card seemed to fit that transition perfectly and allowed for a very nontraditional Christmas card.

I am a HUGE fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas and ever since I seen this stamp set from The Sassy Club, I have been waiting anxiously for the day it was restocked. When that day came, I snatched it up! 😂

Seeing as the images were provided in a way that allowed the face to be easily swapped out on the one character, I thought making an interactive card was a must. For that, I chose Lawn Fawn's reveal wheel die.

The most important part of this card was creating my own opening in the main panel of the reveal wheel and making sure the images all lined up.

In order to do that, I first started by stamping just the head part of the image onto a scrap of cardstock. Using my Scan 'N Cut, I cut inside the outline, creating the opening where the faces will show. Then I cut out the scalloped circle from the reveal wheel die to create a template.

I pierced a hole into the top of the scrap with the opening and used a brad to attach it to the scalloped circle. Then I spun it around the circle and traced the face opening four times as evenly spaced as I could.

ree

I stamped the faces to get a feel for the placement and see how it looked, then I used a scrap of cardboard from a box of noodles to create a sturdier template.

ree

Once the template was complete, I stamped two of each of the faces, alternating them around the circle, using black Versafine Claire ink and then heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder.

I cut out a mask using the scalloped circle, folded it in half twice, and cut it into four pieces. I sectioned off the two happy faces and colored the area with tattered rose distress oxide ink and then used hickory smoke oxide to color the sad faces. Then I used a barely damp cloth to wipe away any extra ink sitting on the embossed areas.

For the main panel, I stamped the character image and created a mask so that I could do some ink blending. I also used a circle punch to create a mask for the moon.

I chose distress inks in the colors squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, fired brick, seedless preserves, and black soot and blended them using foam blending tools.

ree

I removed the mask and cut out the opening and then started to color in the image. I also stamped out and colored three of the other images from the set using Copic markers.

After I finished with the coloring, I cut out the main panel piece using the reveal wheel die and then used my Scan 'N Cut for the rest of the images. I used a Momento black marker to line the edges of the die cut images as well.

Then, I took the Tim Holtz Halloween dies from a couple years ago, which included a spooky fence, and cut those out of some black cardstock. To add a little dimension, I added some carved pumpkin distress oxide to the tops of the die cuts. I did the same thing for the ground which I cut out using Lawn Fawn's stitched hillside borders.

I placed the fence around the image on the main panel, but I didn't want the fence to overlap the image. So once I had the fence where I wanted it, I took the same mask I used before and laid it onto the fence, lined up with the character. Then I cut off all the parts that intersected and glued down the fence next to the character on each side.

Now for the part that really lets you know that this is a Christmas card! 😂 I took the Santa and reindeer silhouette stamp from Lawn Fawn's Winter Skies stamp set, and added it to the top of the card using Versafine ink. Voila! Christmas! 🎅🎄

I laid everything in place and glued it down using a Zig glue pen.

As for the sentiment, I haven't decided what I'm going to use yet, but I know there are a couple good ones in the Holidays are a Nightmare stamp set from Kindred Stamps. However, I think "We wish you a Scary Christmas" or "Very Scary Christmas" could work pretty good too! 😄

Holidays are a Nightmare - Kindred Stamps

For the final step, I assembled the wheel using the rest of the components from the die, a brad and foam tape. Then I layered the main panel onto a piece of teal and black cardstock and glued it onto an A2 sized card base.

I hope your holidays aren't a nightmare and you give this card a try!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hello!

Winter is fast approaching, I've already broken out my winter coat and I'm still not over Halloween! What ever happened to sweater weather? But before I move on to Christmas cards, fall themed cards are on my agenda. 😄🍁🍂

This card is a relatively clean and simple card with some added gold splatter for a bit of pizzazz!

To start, I took the Tropicals watercolor set from Prima and some Strathmore watercolor paper to create a fall colored background. I wet the paper with clean water and started dropping in red, yellow, and orange.

I dried the background with my heat gun and added some glimmer mist. Once the paper was completely dry, I used some leaf dies from my stash and cut them out from the background.

To add a little more texture, I took some brown watercolor from the same set and added some splatter across the leaves.

I set the leaves aside to dry and moved onto to the main panel. I trimmed down a piece of 65 lb. white Recollections card stock to 5.5" x 4.25" and die cut it with Lawn Fawn's Just Stitching Rectangles, which I haven't cut apart.

I then added some gold Delicata ink and clean water to my glass mat and picked it up with a large paint brush, sprinkling the ink across the panel.

I also ran the ink pad along the sides of the card stock to get a nice gold edge.

For the sentiment, I used Lawn Fawn's Baked with Love stamp set to piece together the saying "Happy Birthday," which I heat embossed in gold onto a kraft banner. I added a smaller banner using DCWV Metallic card stock and Lawn Fawn's Everyday Banners dies.

I used some brown jute from Dollar Tree to tie a bow through a wooden button I purchased from Hobby Lobby and began to assemble the card.

I tried to place the leaves so that they didn't seem too uniform and used Art Glitter Glue to attach them to the main panel. I added everything else using the same glue, and then attached it to an A2 sized white card base.

That's it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
