I got a request to create a graduation card for a “Queen” and it definitely took me a little bit to come up with an idea. I knew her school colors were green and white and putting “Congratulations” somewhere on the card was probably a step in the right direction, but that was about it.

As I was browsing Pinterest for ideas, I seen a post of a decorated graduation cap and I got my idea.

I practiced spelling out “Queen” with the tiniest silver rhinestones I could find and set out to find a crown. I thought I could find a sticker or crystal looking crown, but didn’t have any luck. I searched Hobby Lobby up and down and eventually found a crown I liked in the sewing section, which turned out to be a button.

I used a dark green cardstock from Recollections and formed the cap. I layered up the square part to make it sturdy enough to hold the crown, adding some evergreen bough distress ink to the edges. I cut a hole in the cardstock for the metal loop to fit through on the back of the button. I then took the small metal pin that held the button onto the packaging and stuck it back through the loop to hold the crown in place.

With the tiny rhinestones, I spelled out the word “Queen” and added some extra on each side of the crown. I used green and white embroidery thread to make a tiny tassel and used a green brad to secure it in the center of the cap.

From my stash, I found some green polka dot paper that matched and matted that on top of a piece of white cardstock, and finally matted that onto a piece of black cardstock, and attached the whole panel on top of an A2 cardbase.

To help the cap stand out, I die cut a doily out of some white cardstock and glued it to the polka dot paper.

I made a ¼” ring out of the same cardstock for the part of the cap that sits on the head and built up the inside with foam tape. I added some extra glue to the back of the square and placed it onto the foam tape.

For the sentiment, I cut out the word “Congratulations” with my Scan ‘N Cut and covered it in Stickles glitter glue. On the inside, I stamped “You did it!”

I’m so happy to be making more cards for an awesome couple; this time, finishing up the event with some wedding Thank Yous.

Simon Says Stamp’s Beautiful Flowers stamp embossed with Ranger Blush Pearl embossing powder, and embellished with Altenew’s Simple Thank You created these elegant black, white, and pink Thank Yous.

Once again, I'm so happy that I could be part of someone’s special day. It was the best feeling ever to hear how excited they were to see the finished products and it was so sweet to hear all the compliments they passed on from the people receiving them.

Thank you McKenzie & Patrick!

I’m so lucky to be creating things for such a cool couple. For this occasion, they asked me to make vow books for their wedding. The extra cool part is that they are fans of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones and they gave me free reign to create their vow books with those themes.

For his, I used Kindred Stamps’ Heirs to the Throne and Royal Throne stamp sets. I stamped the images out onto an 8.5x11” Bristol paper and drew a scene around them. I went over my drawing with micron pens and made masks for all the stamps. I used distress inks with foam blending tools to create the sky and a waterbrush with the distress inks to paint the rest of the image.

For hers, I did the same thing as his but I used Wizards, Wizard World, Magic Pals, Potter Head, Magical Creatures, Magic Wand, and The Baddies stamp sets from The Sassy Club.

I sealed both with distress micro glaze and used a saddle stitch to complete the spine.

I used my Scan ‘N Cut to cut out the words “his” and “hers” from gold foil cardstock and glued them to the covers.

These were so fun to make and I was so happy they liked them.
