Masculine cards are sometimes a struggle; the amount of options via stamp sets and dies are somewhat limited, especially in my stash of supplies. So for my dad's birthday card, I had to think outside of the box using what I had available.
In the end, I went with a golf theme. For the golf ball I used my Sizzix circle dies, the smallest in the set, and a Cuttlebug dotted embossing folder. I flipped the circle over once it was embossed so the dots looked like they were pushed into the ball. Then I used some frayed burlap distress oxide to give the ball some dimension.
For the wood grain, I used the Darice wood grain embossing folder. I put some Lawn Fawn walnut ink on the embossing folder, sandwiched the paper, and ran it through my Cuttlebug.
I chose varying stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn to fancy up the panels. For the sky, I used the MFT mini cloud edges and broken china distress oxide. I layered some grass I cut out using Lawn Fawn grassy hillside border dies. Once again, adding some dimension with distress oxides in lucky clover and peeled paint.
I made the golf tee by referencing a photo on Google and colored it with some alcohol markers (Copic, Blick, and Recollections).
Finally, I layered everything together and added it to an aqua card base. For the sentiment I used the tag from the Mama Elephant favor bag, peacock feathers distress oxide, and the happy birthday from Sweet Stamp Shop's Grand Wizard.
Inside I used Milo's ABCs and year seven by Lawn Fawn to create the sentiment "hope your birthday is PAR-fect!"
