Hello!

Card number two in my Halloween series features the cute little witch from My Favorite Things Witch way is the Candy? set. I had previously colored her during a Daily Marker 30 coloring challenge awhile ago. I thought now would be a good time to add her to a card.

I know I used Versafine black ink, Canson watercolor paper, and Zig real brush markers to color the images.

To complete the rest of the card I started by running some scrap cardstock through my Bigkick machine with a Darice embossing folder. I planned on blending a distress ink sky, so I took those scrap impressions and cut them out to use as masks.

ree

Once I had them cut, I used Tombow Mono liquid glue on the back and set them aside to dry in order to make the masks stick.

Next, I took out some 110 lb. white cardstock, which I thought was Bristol, and lined it up with the masks in the embossing folder, and shut the folder. This kept the masks in the correct places while I went on to ink blend.

I used makeup brushes and distress oxide inks in the colors wild honey, ripe persimmon, fired brick, and dusty concord for the background. I also added some wilted violet and black soot around the edges for some additional contrast.

ree

So because I accidentally grabbed the wrong cardstock, it took a lot more effort and ink to get a nice, smooth blend. It worked out ok, but the cardstock got really saturated with ink and just did not want to dry no matter how long I heated it with a heat tool.

However, once I finished inking, I wanted to add some additional elements to the sky to make it a little more spooky. I added some water drops with my distress sprayer, let them sit for a couple seconds, and the dabbed them up with some paper towel. Then I took some white pigment ink by Stampabilities and a really tiny blending brush to add some wispy clouds to the background. And finally, I sprayed the whole thing with some glimmer mist.

I cut down the background to 5.25"x4" and matted that onto an A2 sized black cardstock panel.

I attached the images using Tombow mono liquid glue and popped up the witch with some foam tape.

For the sentiment, I used "Have a spooktacular Halloween" from The Sassy Club's new Button Girl stamp set. I had originally planned on using "A Halloween Hello" from the MFT set, but it was a smidge too big for the space I wanted to put it.

I used Versamark ink on black cardstock with white detail embossing powder, melted it with my heat tool, and trimmed it down. After that, I added it to the card front and then added the whole panel to a black cardbase.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wishing you a spooktacular day!

I recently attended a baby shower for my cousins who are expecting a little baby boy in December and I thought it would be fun to make a pop up box card for the occasion.

During the last Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge, I had colored up the cute animal images from Lawn Fawn's Wild for You stamp set. When I colored them I already had a baby card in mind, so they were all set to build a card around.

ree

I had used Canson watercolor paper and stamped the images using Versafine black ink. I colored them in with Prima Watercolor Confections, the pastel dreams palette. Then I used a Scan 'N Cut to cut them out, leaving a small white border.

I got some card stock together that I thought went well with the precolored images. For the solid colors, I used 65 lb. Recollections cardstock and the heart patterned paper was from an old Amy Tangerine collection.

I used Lawn Fawn's scalloped box card pop-up die to form the box card out of the yellow cardstock. I also used the stitched dies in the set to decorate the inside and outside of the box with the patterned paper. I cut out the insert pieces from a pastel aqua color and glued on the animal diecuts.

Once I had the animals I wanted attached to the inserts, I had an empty space in the back. I chose the group of balloons from Lawn Fawn's Bicycle Built for You stamp set, stamped them out, and colored them with coordinating colors to fill the space.

I wanted to add something a little extra to the panel behind the animals, so I took Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Cloud cover up die and ran that through my die cut machine with some light blue cardstock. I then used the same stitched rectangle as before to make the sky panel, and attached it to the card.

I used the sentiment "Welcome little one" from Lawn Fawn's Little Bundle set and stamped it with Versafine black ink to the inside front panel of the card. Then I added the tiny mouse next to the sentiment and the alligator to another panel. In hindsight, I would have stamped the sentiment before attaching the panel (lol), but I didn't realize until it was too late.

Once I had all of my pre-colored images on the card, I still felt like it was a little plain. I decided to add some alphabet blocks to the decorate the outside of the card. To make the blocks, I started with the smallest outside in stitched square from Lawn Fawn and Hello Bluebird's Charlie Alpha dies.

After making a couple, I thought the squares were a little too big. I went to my stash to see if I had something smaller and ended up using the inside of the square frame from Lawn Fawn's mini picture frames.

I first cut out the squares and then centered the letter dies the best I could. I ran the same letter dies through with white cardstock as well. I used the colored blocks with the white letters and added some of the colored letters to the last panel on the inside of the card.

Once everything was attached, I took some of the colored cardstock scraps and cut out some hearts using the die included with the scalloped box die, and added them around the sentiment.

This card was so much fun to make and I think it turned out so cute. 😄

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Hello! Today's card is Halloween themed, but more on the mysterious, magical side instead of spooky. The idea came about from an experiment with diy alcohol inks. Alcohol inks are fairly new to my crafty arsenal and before I took the plunge, I decided to try the permanent marker and 99% isopropyl alcohol method.

I purchased the 24 Artist Loft markers from Michael's, some alcohol from Walgreens, and some Art C dropper bottles. And in place of yupo paper, I used some HP photo paper I already had. I also made a metallic gold color using acrylic paint and alcohol.

ree

I watched a lot of YouTube videos to get the hang of it and was mostly disappointed by my results. However, I kept trying after I found Myriam's Nature on YouTube. I was inspired by her gorgeous ethereal alcohol ink pieces and she made it look so easy.

So I got my inks and tried again and ended up with this...

ree

I really didn't like it, especially the splotchy gold chunks left behind by the acrylic paint mixture. I was about to toss it but I decided to leave it alone and came back to it later. The next day, my first thought was that it looked more like a forest with magical golden orbs, a big tree in the middle, and a stream. From there, I knew the perfect stamp set to complete my idea was Lawn Fawn's Fairy Friends.

ree

Once I decided on the stamp set, I stamped them with Versafine black ink onto some Strathmore watercolor paper.

Since my last card, I have found it really fun to alter my stamped images, so I used some Micron pens to add some extra details to the fairies to give them a more mischievous look. I thought they fit in better with the darker forest scene.

I changed the wing shape, gave them all pixie ears, and made their clothes out of flowers, bark, and leaves.

Then I pulled out my Marvy Le Plume II markers to watercolor the images.

ree

At first I made them green, but thought they blended in too much with the background, On my second attempt I tried to stay away from blues and greens completely, to make sure they would really stand out.

After they were all colored, I fussy cut them out and lined the edges using a Memento Tuxedo Black marker. I also used a Signo Uniball gel pen to add some gold accents.

I stamped out a bunch of the swirls from the stamp set onto some bristol card stock and cut them out with my Scan 'N Cut. I used the same Memento marker to completely cover the white spaces. Then I added them to the corners of the card.

I messed with the sentiment for quite awhile, using a bunch of different stamps, banners, and die cuts before finally deciding on The Greeting Farm's Magic Class stamp set. I stamped "believe in Magic" onto some 110 lb. black card stock and heat embossed it with gold detail embossing powder. I fussy cut around it with detail scissors, leaving a slight border and attached it to the card.

Lastly, for the card base, I used a textured olive green piece of cardstock, and attached the main panel using an ATG gun.

In the end, I'd say my diy alcohol inks are pretty nice and I will definitely use them along with my growing Ranger collection. 😅

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I hope you have a magical day!
